Judo as a Culture

Judo is formally called 'Kodokan Judo' and it was established by KANO Jigoro Shihan in 1882.  Judo is a modification of Jujitsu which is one of the ancient Japanese martial arts.  Judo was founded for the purpose of "Physical Education", "Contests", and "Moral Training."

Nowadays, Judo is widespread internationally, and while giving importance to respectful manner, it has the characteristics of physical skills and moral and mental education as well as the excitement as a competitive sport event.
